Watts Park opens after long-awaited $6.8 million makeover

[pullquote_right]”All around you’ll see a newly landscaped and expanded areas for recreational opportunity,” said Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas[/pullquote_right]Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas joined the Department of Parks and Recreation and a host of community organizations to dedicate the newly renovated Ted Watkins Memorial Park.  Crowds packed the park to celebrate the freshly renovated public space.

Eighty-five percent of the 27-acre park underwent a $6.8 million renovation. Improvements include a new walking path, fitness stations, new picnic area, Skate Park and multipurpose sports field.

Summer programs like the Parks After Dark program brings the local community together in the evenings.  Free computer classes and a teen club are additional community benefits.
