Safety means proactively doing things to stay away from danger or trouble. It is important to rapidly remove people from immediate or threatened danger in a safe and orderly manner. An evacuation is about saving as many lives as possible without panic. Having the Evacuation Plan on paper does not fulfill the code requirements. Educating new employees and continuing education for all employees in regards to the locations of fire extinguishers, stairs, horn/strobes, fire sprinklers, all means of egress and a designated meeting place outside in a remote location is essential.
The old saying “practice makes perfect” does apply. Being part of the Emergency Response Team, it is eminent to be fully prepared and seasoned in our tasks. As a result of this constant education and refreshing of the evacuation drill, we excel in our assignments and become more advanced with a shorter response time
