Statement from Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas on the Safer at Home order prompted by COVID-19
“I thank our Public Health Director for taking the difficult but necessary step of banning gatherings of 10 or more people and ordering the closure of non-essential businesses to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
“It will not come without inconveniences – but we have to be resolute in protecting ourselves and everyone around us.
“Far too many of our fellow Angelenos, however, cannot stay at home because they do not have one. It is our priority to bring as many of our homeless neighbors indoors immediately.
“Finally, I want to express my awe, appreciation and respect for the diverse ‘army for good’ who are on the front lines fighting this pandemic – the doctors and nurses at our hospitals; the street outreach workers who care for our homeless neighbors; the workers in grocery stores, restaurants, and other essential establishments and vital infrastructure; and many more.
“I want to emphasize that despite this mandatory social distancing, you are not alone. We’re here for you. Los Angeles County has a plan, and we’ll get through this together and emerge stronger as a community.”
