Emergency Replacement Project at Harbor-UCLA
March 31, 2011 – The new state-of-the-art Emergency Replacement Project at Harbor-UCLA is taking shape. Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas recently participated in the traditional Topping Out ceremony, where he joined with workers to commemorate the completion of the steel framework for the new facility.
The event, a time-honored tradition among builders, celebrated the diligent efforts of approximately 100 workers who safely erected the 190,000 square feet framework. Among them were representatives from the Department of Public Works, the Department of Health Services, contractor Hensel Phelps, steel erector Herrick Company and iron-workers from Locals 433 and 416.
The new Harbor-UCLA facility will play a major role in improving the heath and well-being of Second District residents in Los Angeles County.
