Residents will be able to trade in any firearm for a Food4Less or Target gift card from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 14 at the 88th Street Temple Church of God in Christ on Vermont Avenue.
Hosted by Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the gun buyback is part of an ongoing effort to safely remove weapons from the streets and reduce gun violence.
In prior events, hundreds of weapons have been turned in.
“It is my hope that Los Angeles County residents will come to this event and surrender their firearms, committing to making our neighborhoods and communities safer for each and every one of us,” said the Supervisor. “Our communities are awash with guns, and if we want to see less gun violence then we have to be proactive in both collecting them and turning them in.”
