Supervisor To Break Ground For Harbor-UCLA Emergency Room Renovation

Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas invites you to attend a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the launch of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center’s Surgery/Emergency Replacement Project on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 9 a.m.

The Surgery / Emergency Replacement Project will invest $322.6 million into 190,300 square-feet of new hospital facilities including sixteen new fully-equipped surgery rooms, an outpatient surgery staging area, a post anesthesia care unit, a surgery waiting area, and emergency and trauma functions including adult and pediatric triage, observation, diagnostics, and critical care. Additional features include a partial basement with central sterile facilities, a roof top mechanical penthouse, an eight-story elevator tower connecting the existing hospital, a new free-standing elevated emergency helistop and a new sustainable parking structure with 544 new parking stalls. Interim improvements have been made to ensure services at Harbor-UCLA are not interrupted through the construction completion date of July 2010.
