Operation Gobble: Spreading joy this holiday season

Golden State Water Company in partnership with Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, delivered 200 turkeys to 13 community organizations this holiday season.

Since 1990, Golden State has been donating turkeys to disadvantaged families for the Thanksgiving holiday through a program called “Operation Gobble.”

“The Operation Gobble Program is important because it helps people during these hard times,” said Golden State Water Company District Manager Paul Rowley. “We hope to spread some joy this holiday season.” Operation Gobble is a non-denominational and non-partisan undertaking in which the company partners with local elected officials who help direct the donations to community food banks, churches and other non-profit organizations. Throughout November, Golden State employees delivered more than 10,000 turkeys to families through various organizations and charities in California

The 13 recipients of the turkeys in the Second District are: the Asian Service Center in Gardena, the East Rancho Dominquez Senior Center, the Florence-Firestone Senior Center, the Lynnwood Senior Center, the Roosevelt Park Senior Center in Florence-Firestone, the Willowbrook Senior Center, the Yvonne Burke Senior Center in Ladera Heights, Trinity Baptist Church in Los Angeles, New Life of Christ Church in Florence-Firestone, Phillips Temple Church in Los Angeles, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Los Angeles, and Tabernacle of Faith Church in Los Angeles.
