Message from MRT, December 2012

Welcome to the December issue of the Second District newsletter. The end of the year is upon us, and I’d like to wish each and every one of you a joyous holiday season. I would also like to thank those of you who came out to the Martin Luther King, Jr, Multi-Service Ambulatory Care Center last Friday for my oath of office ceremony. It was a wonderful event, and your presence was much appreciated. This year, as I begin my second term, I become Chairman of the Board, and I am certain that 2013 will be both a busy and productive year. Looking ahead to January, remember to mark your calendars for the 21st Annual Empowerment Congress Summit; this year’s event will feature a debate by the major candidates for the office of mayor of the City of Los Angeles. Below you’ll find much more information about the Second District in this month’s newsletter, including items about the one-of-a-kind urban orchard we recently planted in Del Aire, as well as the final results of our street naming contest for the road leading to the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Hospital. Once again I’d like to wish you all “Happy holidays,” and I’ll see you in 2013!
