Summer is here, which means it’s time for MRT’s free movie nights. For the second consecutive year, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and the county Department of Parks and Recreation are offering the family-friendly series, during which residents can enjoy a free movie (and the obligatory popcorn) at 15 county parks throughout the Second District.
“We want everyone to enjoy watching a movie under the stars with their family and friends,” Supervisor Ridley-Thomas said.
To transform parks in the Second District into outdoor theaters, a large 12 x 9-foot screen, projector and multiple speakers will be set-up at a section of each participating park. Movies will start at dusk and run through August 29. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, snacks and lawn chairs.
“MRT movie nights were so popular and well attended last year, we have planned more this summer,” Melinda Roundtree, Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Regional Recreation Director said. “We hope this continues as an annual tradition.”
