Los Angeles County’s Department of Health Services is installing a new
countywide electronic health record system that could be a model for health care organizations across the country.
The Board of Supervisors recently voted to set aside $20 million to
fund mental health services, substance abuse treatment, job counseling,
as well as supportive housing for mentally ill offenders as an alternative
to incarceration.

The newly refurbished two-story, 8,000-square-foot facility,
