Help Plan the Future of the Harbor Subdivision

You are invited to attend a project update on the Harbor Subdivision Transit Corridor Alternatives Analysis (AA). In April and May 2009, Metro held public meetings to obtain your feedback on the four project alternatives to be carried forward through the duration of the study. Based on comments received at those meetings as well as more detailed technical analysis, Metro has completed the AA and will present the results at a series of community meetings this fall.

Study Area

The study area encompasses approximately 85 square miles including the jurisdictions of Huntington Park, Vernon, City of Los Angeles, Hawthorne, Inglewood, El Segundo, Lawndale, Torrance, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Carson, Los Angeles County, and the port areas of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

VIDEO: Help Samoa Disaster Relief Press Conference

Supervisor Ridley-Thomas joined Samoan Chief Loa Pele Faletogo and other community leaders at a press conference in Carson last night to raise awareness about ongoing disaster relief efforts for American Samoa and Samoa. The islands were recently hit by devastating earthquakes and tsunamis.

Upcoming Hearing Monday On Congestion Reduction Demonstration Project

Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas has proposed a one-year pilot project that would allow solo drivers to pay a toll to use carpool lanes on portions of the Harbor (I-110) and San Bernardino (I-10) Freeways that will generate revenue to improve public transportation and create more than 7,000 construction-related jobs. The project will be the focus of five public hearings this month. The Second District hearing will be held June 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Adult Activity Room at the Carson Community Center, 801 E. Carson St., Carson.

UPDATE: Another Second District hearing has been added on June 18th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Darby Park in Inglewood. The address is 3400 W Arbor Vitae St.

You are invited to attend a Harbor Subdivision Transit Corridor Alternatives Analysis (AA) project update meeting. In September 2008, Metro held four Early Scoping meetings to obtain community input on the alternatives and environmental issues to be studied in the AA. Based on feedback received at those meetings and more detailed technical analysis, a set of modal and routing alternatives has been developed for further study.

Please join us to receive a status update and a schedule for future project milestones for the Harbor Subdivision Transit Corridor.
