Stand Up For a Station in Leimert Park and Undergrounding the Train Through Park Mesa Heights

Considerable progress has occurred at Metro with regard to the Crenshaw/LAX Light Rail Line; you might recall that this past summer Senator Boxer was instrumental in securing a Federal Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) Loan.

Even with all the advancement made to date, two outstanding design options remain on the table: the inclusion of a station in Leimert Park at Vernon Ave. and undergrounding the train from 48th to 59th Streets (Park Mesa Heights), which is currently designed for street level (at grade).

There has been a consistent level of community support for these two design options and Supervisor Ridley-Thomas has introduced a motion at Metro this month to incorporate these as a part of the project.

Inclusion of these two elements could ensure that this Measure R project is built in a manner that is responsive to community concerns and does not miss an opportunity to service one of the most historic neighborhoods in the region.

Your voice and presence are needed in support at the full Metro Board meeting where the motion will be considered.
